From creator Ji'Reh Cecil, Emoni pays homage to Georgiana Simpson! Hailing from Ji'Reh's hometown of Chicago, Georgiana Simpson is recognized as the first African-American woman to receive a PhD in the United States of America. In 1921, Georgiana received her doctorate in German from the University of Chicago. Georgiana was an early pioneer in education and the progression of Black American scholars.
